Target/Wal-Mart Stores:

     Each Target and Wal-Mart store has grant money of up to $1000 available for local Police Departments for Community Policing which includes some aspect of Bicycle Patrols. Contact your local store manager and request a grant application.

New Federal Grant Info:

     New website, Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov/ , has been launched to make it easier for organizations to learn about and apply for federal grants. The website has information about more than 800 available grant programs involving all 26 federal grant-making agencies.

     These agencies together award more than $360 billion in grant funds. The site provides information in a standardized format across agencies and includes a "Find Grant Opportunities" feature to help applicants find potential funding opportunities.

     The site also contains an "Apply for Grants" feature that greatly simplifies the application process by allowing applicants to download, complete and submit applications for specific grant opportunities from any federal grant-making agency.It also allows you to register to receive email notification when new grants are posted. You have the option to receive all notices, or to select the category type(s) and or agencies in which you are interested.

THE ALLSTATE FOUNDATION:

Community Grants

SUMMARY: The Allstate Foundation will fund programs that address community safety, tolerance, and economic empowerment. Programs addressing catastrophe response and mitigation, community revitalization, and youth violence are invited.
FUNDING: $30 million total.
ELIGIBILITY: 501(c)(3) organizations are eligible.

Examples: Ohio Investment Highlights Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) - In 2001, Wells Fargo invested $5 million in a 1999 Series CDBG of which $500,000 benefits Van Wert County, Ohio. CDBGs are funds provided by the federal government and allocated by each state as it sees fit. CDBG funds are to be specifically targeted to areas for affordable housing development, economic development and community services throughout the U.S.
